The exact arrival date of coffee in Honduras is unknown, but it is thought that seeds came from Costa Rica between 1799 and 1804, along with other goods carried by traveling merchants. Presently, Honduras stands as the primary coffee producer in Central America, with the industry holding significant importance in the national economy.

Honduras is often overshadowed by its neighbors Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador in the Central American coffee industry, despite its significant annual production and potential for growth and quality improvement.
