Barista Training
Barista training from Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) qualified trainers.
Great coffee equipment is only half the story — the team behind the machine makes the difference between a good cup and a great one. That’s why we work with a network of SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) accredited trainers to help independent operators get the most out of their setup.
Whether you’re onboarding new staff, levelling up your baristas, or want SCA certification on the wall, our trainer network delivers practical, hands-on training tailored to your equipment and your menu.
Why get training?
• Reduce wastage from over-dosing, mis-timed shots and milk errors
• Deliver a consistent product across every shift and every barista
• Speed up onboarding for new staff
• Build a team that takes pride in what they’re serving
• Gain recognised SCA certification — a genuine talking point for customers!
All our trainers hold SCA accreditation, covering courses across the Coffee Skills Programme — including Barista Skills, Brewing, and Sensory modules at Foundation, Intermediate and Professional levels.

Gene, tell us about you!
“I combine a Mathematics degree from the University of Oxford and a Master’s in Education with extensive experience across the coffee industry. After seven years teaching secondary maths, I founded and ran my own coffee shop before moving into coffee training, operations, and quality.
My career has included roles as a roastery Account Manager and Trainer, Operational Trainer for Joe & The Juice, and Quality Assistant at green coffee importer DRWakefield. As a certified CQI & CVA Arabica Q-Grader, I bring a rare blend of educational expertise, business ownership, and hands-on experience across coffee.”
What’s something unique about your coffee journey?

Before coffee, I spent seven years teaching secondary mathematics and completed a Master’s degree in Education. Today, I combine that professional teaching expertise with hands-on experience in coffee business, training, operations, and quality to make coffee learning accessible, engaging, and impactful.”
