Some businesses expand by chasing new markets. HBW Coffee expanded by doing more of what they’ve always done best.

HBW Coffee opened in 2018 on Stirling’s Barnton Street as a speciality coffee spot with an all-day brunch menu. From the beginning, the approach was clear: great food that works for everyone. Almost every dish on the menu offered excellent vegan options alongside a strong range of free-of-gluten choices — not as a niche add-on, but as a founding principle.

Seven years on, that commitment is unchanged. The menu has evolved, the following has grown, but the standard that drew people in the first place has stayed consistent.

An Expansion Built From Within

Long before HBW Bakery existed, HBW Coffee was already producing its own cakes, pastries, and doughnuts in-house. For years, the kitchen made it happen within the existing space. When the unit next door became available in early 2026, the expansion was a natural step rather than a new direction.

HBW Bakery opened in February 2026, serving speciality coffee to take away alongside an expanded range of freshly baked pastries, cakes, and sourdough bread. Everything is made by the team. The same people, the same standards, more space to work with.

Coffee at the Core

Throughout both sites, the coffee programme remains central. HBW works with a range of speciality roasters across the UK — a rotating, considered selection that keeps the offering fresh without compromising on quality.

For anyone visiting Stirling, both sites are worth knowing about. For anyone in hospitality looking at what considered, values-led growth looks like — HBW is a strong example.
